Design on Rails Workshop

written by Allan on June 10, 2010

Design on Rails Workshop is another amazing LessEverything event.

Who is this workshop for?

  • Front-end Developers
  • Designers
  • Information Architects
  • Rails developers that want to learn more about working with designers

What is the workshop about?

It's a single day workshop with talks ranging from working in rails apps, jquery, css best practices, haml/sass and other skills that make designers amazing.

Why put on this workshop?

This workshop is for me. I've fallen behind on front end best practices and need to catch up. I also meet designers all the time that can only deliver html and css and they don't know the joy of working in a rails app, as a designer. Having these skills will allow a good designer to be more productive within a team thus more valuable. This conference isn't going to teach designers to be developers but to show them how to work in a team with developers and not use them as a crutch.

Attendees will receive working demonstrations on...

  • how to build partials, structure rails views, changing layouts, design integration.
  • why Haml and Sass will make you more productive.
  • how to prototype in html.
  • how to work with a dev team.
  • working with html5.
  • designing for mobile applications.
  • why compass css will bring you joy.
