Escape from Quickbooks
written by Allan on August 29, 2008
We need your help, we're close to launching a Quickbooks importer to allow those oppressed Quickbooks users to escape the tyranny of Quickbooks.
But we need some help. We need some real Quickbooks files to test the importer. Send the files to steve [a t] lesseverything.com, feel free to change the data if you fear emailing them.
Business Owners: save hours per week with
LessAccounting. It's like Quickbooks, just not total shit.

Does this mean there will also be a way to import from Quicken (XG in my case)? I’ve love to get away from using it purely for my invoices.

Hi Allan,
There’s a couple of files you might want to check out on:
http://www.google.com/search?q=filetype%3Aqbw
Some of them seem to be in foreign/non-Latin languages too, which should give your parser a run for it’s money.
I can probably dig out a few sample files from various old versions of QB if you need them? (As in, stock install samples from Intuit, I doubt any of my clients would let me send out their company data!)
Kind regards,
Gareth
I’m pleased to see that you’re doing this. Intuit has made it clear that those of us who use Macs are second-class citizens, both with their online versions (which don’t support the Mac AT ALL) and their installed software (which lag the Windows versions by YEARS).
You guys deserve to be successful with this approach. I’m glad you’re making it easy to switch. Good on ya!
